Winter Storm Warning

According to the National Weather Service our whole area is under a Winter Storm Warning. They are predicting 10+ inches of snow with blowing wind and blizzardous conditions. Now for you snowbirds that live in the Frozen Tundra you are probably laughing. . . but we live in a semi-arid, almost desert land and it is a very big deal. We also don't have the equipment to move the snow off the roadways. It should be interesting. I'm just thankful I don't have to get out of bed if I so choose not too. Another perk of being retired! Let it snow!

Amarillo's First Snow

Today Amarillo had the first snow of the season. It was falling pretty heavily at times, but the ground is still to warm for it to really stick. I'm sure the roads will freeze over tonight, but will melt off quickly tomorrow. That's the one good thing about our winter blasts, they don't last very long, at least usually. I think we had about 1/2 inch to 1 inch of snow. It was so fantastic today to be able to stay in snuggled with my pups and drinking hot chocolate. Kevin and I did venture out for about 30 minutest to go to the video store. One thing about the weather it's bitter cold. The actual temperature is ranging in the 20's but with the wind chill it feels more like 8-10 degrees. Again, I reiterate it's wonderful being retired and not having to get out unless I choose to. Here are some pictures I took from today. If you enlarge them you can actually see the snowflakes falling. I took them about 3:30 this afternoon. The snow seems to be lightening up and is expected to stop by later on tonight. Makes me want to sing, "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"
