About Me

I was born in 1957 in the small town of Littlefield. It was the typical community of the 50's. I had an older sister and mom stayed at home with us. We were very involved in a small Baptist church and went at least five times a week. Daddy even helped build our new church building. Going to church was just part of my life. I didn't know any difference. I'm sure that is why I still love to go even now. Later we added two more girls to the family. Monetarily we were poor, but were rich in things that mattered and I can't think of a time that we didn't have food, clothes to wear and a safe home.

After graduating from high school I really had no intention of going to college, but instead marrying my childhood sweetheart and continuing life in Littlefield, God had different plans. First of all I got an anonymous scholarship ( I still to this day have no idea who gave it to me) and then my best friend from high school drug me kicking and screaming to West Texas State University (now known as West Texas A & M). Life was good. As it happened, long distance romances are hard to keep and my sweetheart broke up with me and broke my heart. Looking back, that was a good thing. Otherwise I wouldn't have met my true sweetheart. But that's getting ahead of the story. After my sophomore year at W.T. all of us girls that had lived in the dorm together decided we were going to get an apartment and stay in Canyon for the summer. That meant getting a job. I tried like crazy to get a job at a day care, but nothing panned out. Then daddy suggested I call an old friend of his that worked for Nunn Electric. I called and made an appointment for an interview. I went in to see Mr. Gross only to find out he didn't need any one at that time. He told me he would check with the other departments. Sure enough the accounting dept. needed summer help. I really didn't want an office job, but it seemed crazy to hold out for a maybe when I had a good solid offer in hand, so I took the job. Little did I know I would meet my future husband that summer while working as a file clerk. Kevin's dad is the owner of Nunn and Kevin too was home for the summer from military school. I had been working for two months and always parked in the last place on the end of the lot. Then one day I noticed a snazzy new car parked beside me.
