Spring Break Retired Style

My first Spring Break as a retired school teacher was quite eventful. We usually go out of town and for many years went to South Texas and the beach. Last year went to Phoenix and went on a hot air balloon ride. It was fantastic. However, life has definitely changed. My niece Kamille (my youngest sister's daughter) had to have a heart ablation on Tuesday. So I drove down to Lubbock and took my great nephews with me to stay with one of their other aunts for Spring Break. Thankfully the surgery went well and my niece was in a room in ICU by 1:00 in the afternoon. I traded my two great nephews for two of my other nieces and one nephew and went to Gattis Pizza for dinner and arcade games. Then drove to my mom's to spend the night. The next day we waited until after lunch for Kamille to be dismissed from the hospital and after she returned home, me and the three children loaded up to come back to Amarillo. So for the rest of the week we always had between three to four kids all day and night. It's quite exciting and exhausting for us oldies that don't have kids. It seemed like it was always something, thirsty, hungry, stepping in the dog poop, kicking the ball into the street, crashing on the bicycle, running and falling, fighting, playing the Wii, bath time, writing on each other with the markers, etc, etc, and that was only Wednesday . . . not really. Those things did happen and much more, but thank goodness not all in a day. Then one of my other nieces that just had her first son on February 8th finally got to bring him home from the hospital. I couldn't wait to hold him. He is so tiny, but doing well. We finally got all the kiddos delivered back to their respective parents by late this afternoon. The house is definitely lonely and less active, but I can rest assured, they'll be back.
