Our Papi

What a face! How could you resist? Well, we couldn't!
I thought I'd introduce you to our "newest" member of the Hare Household. Back in March, after Hester and her two boys watched Beverly Hills Chihuahua they decided they needed another dog. Ethan had been begging for a pet of his own, so while the boys were at school, Hester found an ad for a "cheweenie." She called the lady and we made plans to meet her to buy the puppy. Even though the puppy was supposed to be for Ethan, he decided it was too much work and defaulted the puppy to Blake. Here is what Papi looked like the day we got him.

After Hester's husband joined them (coming from Alabama) he was not thrilled with the prospect of training a puppy and all that entails so he said "Get rid of the dog." Hester didn't have the heart to get rid of him, so she asked if we could keep him with the hope of some day getting him back. We have now had Papi since April and I don't think they are getting him back. We have fallen in love with the little guy. He does irritate all of us at times, but he's a great little guy and is very smart. He already knows how to sit and fetch his ball. We are working on sit up and of course Kevin wants him to speak. We can't wait for him to lose his baby teeth as they are sharp as razor blades and he loves to chew on any and everything, especially fingers and toes. Tipper is not to happy with him, but they were napping on the love seat tonight while we were watching t.v. Papi is not very social yet and hides behind me or Kevin if anyone comes over. I told Kevin we were going to have to start taking him to the dog park so he could get over that. Like I needed another pet! I think we are over our limit for dogs in the city. Thank goodness they are all little dogs.

He loves to play ball and will actually bring it right back.
He doesn't always let go, but will bring it back.
We're working on "Give."

Now that's a happy dog!
