Amarillo woke up this morning to a very cold, frosty day. I think the high temperature for today was 16 degrees. Factor in the wind and the chill factor was zero or less all day. I was supposed to go to yoga today, but couldn't make myself get out from under the warm covers. I also had a chiropractic appointment at 11:30, but I called and rescheduled for later this afternoon. We got moving about 11:00 and had a brunch and then snuggled down in the den to watch a movie. It's so nice to have that option to NOT get out if I choose not to. Then Lavonna called and said she needed to print something from one of the hearings she was the court reporter for and was having a difficult time getting the document to print. She said she would come during her lunch break from court as the lawyer's office wanted it today. I wasn't sure it would work as it was in ascii format and I didn't know if I had a program that would read it, but I told her to come on over and we would try. Thank the Lord Microsoft Word could read it and we only had to tweak it a little. While she was here we were talking about our CWC luncheon for February and some ideas for that. Lavonna mentioned that she was thinking of playing 50's hit songs and having the crowd guess who the artist was. So since I have $40 worth of credit on my music download account I said I would do it. As soon as I got that done I took a quick shower and rushed to the chiropractor. I got to Dr. Lovett and just love him and his staff. I don't think I really told many people, but I have been having some major shoulder pain since the end of November. Every time I go to Dr. Lovett, Kevin asks me, "Did you tell him about your shoulder?" To which I would always say, "No, I forgot." Well, today my shoulder was really hurting making it impossible to 'forget' about it. After Dr. Lovett did my
adjustment I asked him about my
shoulder. He asked me to do some arm movements and then he put some pressure on my shoulder and said, "Does that hurt right there?" To which I said "Yes!" Then he did a couple more moves and pressure points and said, "It's your rotator cuff." I had been suspicious that it was my rotator cuff. So I asked him what could I do to make it better. He prescribed me some physical therapy treatments. One was Interferential electrical muscle stimulation. The white box is the stimulator and the black pads are the electrodes. What it does is stimulate the
muscle with electrical current. The machine looked like this and they hooked the electrodes up to the front and back of my shoulder for a 10 minute treatment. Here is a web site that shows the electrodes pulsing. Next the therapist did some stretches with me. Some hurt a little, some not at all and some really a lot. Then was time for the laser therapy. It's called Cold Laser Therapy It was very strange as I could not feel a thing, but just had this read laser light flashing on my shoulder. This is a picture of the laser machine. Finally, the therapist told me Dr. Lovett wanted me to do some exercises at home, so she showed me what to do. After I got home I went out to take some pictures of our frosty day for my photography class homework. I'm supposed to take two pictures of three different
subjects that are of interest to me. I do love
taking shots of things in nature, so today was perfect. All except for the frigid cold! I got a few shots of trees, leaves, berries, branches and birds, but was frozen by then and couldn't even feel my fingers so I called it good and came in the house.
