What Does a $100 Breakfast Look Like

This past weekend on our 25th Anniversary get-away. We were amazed at the cost of things. Granted we did stay in a five star hotel and we definitely paid for that five star service.

This is the area where the restaurant was. Believe it or not that is not the ground floor, but instead the tenth floor. Our suite was on the 32nd floor.

The first morning we slept in and decided to go to one of the French restaurants for brunch. It was very lovely and we sat outside. One of the eight swimming pools was just a ways away from the patio where we were eating. The waiter brought the menu and took our drink orders. We decided to splurge and have champagne drinks along with our usual coffee and water. I talked Kevin into trying a Bellini and I had a Strawberry Fields Champagne. Kevin's was definitely the better of the two.

We also ordered some pastries, a baguette with cream cheese for Kevin, and a cream cheese croissant for me. I scarfed half mine down and realized I didn't take a photo. You'll have to trust me on this one . . . it was delicious!

Then Kevin ordered what he thought was a glass of goat's milk and sheep's milk, but when they brought it out it was cheese and bread instead. I was a little hesitant as a lot of cheese makes me have asthma. I did try them both, but preferred the sheep milk cheese. The best part was hidden under the thinly sliced apples. Fresh honey-comb honey. It was fantastic. I ended up just using the butter, honey and apples on my bread. Yummy!

Since we had already had so much I decided not to order an entree and just have some of Kevin's omelet and sausage. When they brought it out I was not too interested in the sausage as I don't really care for sausage anyway, but Kevin was going on and on about how delicious it was. I relented and had Kevin cut me a small bite. I put that in my mouth and almost hurled. It was so soft and  mushy. Needless to say I just let Kevin enjoy the omelet and sausage. (Cheryl and Sue does that sausage remind you of the ones we used to have at college?)

I had ordered fresh berries and cream, thinking it would be liquid cream like we fix at home sometimes. I was wrong. It was fresh whipped cream and it was to die for! I was very happy with my choice for breakfast.

And then it was time for the check! The waiter brought it out and the grand total for the whole brunch was . . . . . .$115! For breakfast! Isn't that crazy. Believe it or not that was NOT our most expensive meal. That was the last night of our stay and we ate at Emeril Lagasse's Restaurant Del Monico. I'll just let you wonder about that one, but will give you a hint, it's what we generally spend on groceries for a week. It was delicious but still not as good as the Pinnacle Grill on the Ryndam. That's still our favorite.

WOW - but the fruit did look amazing. I would have pasted on the cheese and the sausage looked...well...not too appealing!

That all looked pretty good. I could have fixed it at home for somewhat less expense. But that is part of the fun of getting to go to those places.

Wow! Hope you had a good time. What a lot of money we pay for atmosphere. I mean, fruit and cream, scrambled egg and sausage. We could do that home. I hope the rest of your time was as memorable. That's what these experiences are all about. Making memories. While I am posting, let me just share with you that mom passed away on Thursday night. Funeral will be Friday 3rd June. It is a blessing to know that she is at rest. Life had not been good for her for a long time.
